ZNS VOLUNTARY TRAINING PROGRAM SET TO LAUNCH IN AUGUST 2025

Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary, Maambo Hamaaundu, says the selection process for voluntary training under the Zambia National Service (ZNS) is reaching conclusion, with the program set to commence in the first week of August 2025.

Hamaaundu notes that applications have already been submitted to provincial administrations through Constituency Officers across the country.

He says seven youths will be selected in each Constituency, including three females, bringing the total number of participants to 1,092 nationwide.

Hamaaundu explains that those selected will undergo six months of training in Kitwe, Chishimba, and Chiwoko in Katete.

He states that the youths will be trained in four key aspects: agriculture, military training, entrepreneurship, and national values and principles.

Hamaaundu notes that the training is being funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), with over K19 million budgeted for the recently reintroduced undertaking.

Earlier, a youth from Maambo Ward in Pemba demanded clarity on the process of applying for the ZNS voluntary training, questioning how the selection is being carried out.

Martin Mpukani narrated that when he consulted the area Councilor on the issue, he was advised to apply online, even though the Ministry of Defence had indicated that selection would be handled by the Ward Development Committee (WDC).
